Aniseed is as useful a botanical herb as it is a culinary one. Use in sweet dishes, flat bread and other baked goods, curries, pickles and to flavour liqueurs and tea.
Anise is also used in recipes for sausages, stews, is used to flavour roast carrots, and to enhance the flavours of dishes that use fruit, eggs, cheese and spinach. The flavour of aniseed goes wonderfully well with cinnamon and bay leaves.
Ground aniseed is a good source of copper, potassium, magnesium and iron and provides the body with Vitamins C and A. In botanical medicines it is traditionally used as a digestive and to fight fungal infection.
Ingredients Ground Aniseed. Produce of Spain, hand packed in Devon, UK.
Aniseed may also be known to you as saunf and anise. It is often confused with fennel and star anise.
