Whole Nutmeg

Fresh from the 'Nutmeg Isle' of Grenada, our whole nutmeg is the best way to own this precious spice.  While we offer it ground, for convenience, you can't beat the aromatic of fresh grated nutmeg.

Nutmeg's use goes deeper than our associations with Christmas, mulled wine, egg nog and custard tarts.  A sprinkle toward the end of cooking on steamed vegetables, over pasta dishes like Fettucine Alfredo, Lasagna and Macaroni Cheese will add a sweet-savoury note.

Next time you are cooking a venison, rabbit, lamb or beef stew, you can add a wonderful warm depth with a few pinches (taste as you go).

Looking to experiment further with your whole nutmeg?  A light grate over your cappuccino, rice pudding, porridge or ice cream is a great thing to try.  Nutmeg is quite strong, a little will go a long way; so don't over do it!
